What it is

Yaeun History Experience Center (야은역사체험관) is a group of traditional hanok buildings in Geumosan Provincial Park (금오산도립공원), next to its lawn plaza. It was built to honor the life, learning and loyalty of Yaeun Gil Jae (야은 길재), a loyal subject of the late Goryeo period and a great teacher of Neo-Confucianism.

How to get here & hours

Take bus 27, 27-⁠1, 27-⁠2 or 27-⁠3 to the Geumosan (금오산) stop. Open 09:00–⁠18:00, closed on Mondays. Admission is free.

Yaeun Gil Jae (야은 길재)

The center was created to honor the life, learning and loyalty of Yaeun Gil Jae (야은 길재), a loyal subject of the late Goryeo period and a great teacher of Neo-Confucianism.

The hanok halls

The center is built in the style of traditional Korean houses (hanok). Inside are an exhibition hall, Suyanggak (수양각), an education room, Hunjasil (훈자실), and a video room (영상실).

Here you can learn about Yaeun’s life and the spirit of Neo-Confucianism in an easy and engaging way.

Around the courtyard

Around the halls are a statue of Yaeun Gil Jae (야은 길재), a garden and a rest area.

It sits right next to the lawn plaza of Geumosan Provincial Park (금오산도립공원), so it is a pleasant place for a walk and a break.

Drop by before or after your Geumosan (금오산) hike for a light look at the history and humanities of Gumi.
